We have a tremendous selection of recipes this week for your New Years Celebrating delight.  We were surprised to see so few drinks and snacks this week but perhaps participants will be inspired by the actual celebration of New Year’s Eve and will submit lot of recipes for the next carnival.

151st edition of the Carnival of the Recipes July 29, 2007

Special Diets Edition Recipes Carnival

The 151st edition of the Carnival of the Recipes is up for your dining pleasure. This week, participants were asked to submit recipes for special diets.

Next week’s edition will be hosted by Slow Cooker Recipes with a theme to sweat over: It’s Too Hot to Cook (Crockpot and slow cooker recipes). Recipes can be submitted through Blog Carnival.

Christmas No-Fat White Sangria Punch (Nonalcoholic) July 27, 2007

4 cs. white grape juice
1 c. pink grapefruit juice
1 tbsp. lime juice
1 club soda bottle, 750 ml chilled
pink grapefruit slices

In large pitcher, combine grape, grapefruit and lime juices;
refrigerate. Just before serving, add soda water and grapefruit
slices.
Makes 12 servings, 3/4 c.

From the Christmas Recipes page on World Famous Recipes we get this recipe for Christmas Bread

Christmas Bread

1 c Nonfat milk
1/2 c Sugar
2 pk Yeast
1/2 c Warm water (105 115’F.)
1/2 c Nonfat egg substitute
1 ts Vanilla
1 1/2 ts Salt
6 c Flour
1 Grated lemon zest
1 c Mixed candied fruit
1 c Golden raisins
1 tb Butter, melted
Powdered sugar
Red candied pineapple

Heat milk and sugar in saucepan to scalding, then cool to lukewarm.

Combine yeast and warm water in mixing bowl, stirring until yeast is dissolved.

Add cooled milk mixture to yeast mixture in mixing bowl.

Stir in egg substitute, vanilla and salt. Beat in 3 cups of flour and lemon zest.

Beat in remaining flour to make soft dough.

Knead in mixed candied fruit and raisins.

Knead about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Put dough in greased bowl and let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

Punch down. Divide dough in half. Roll first half of dough on lightly floured surface into oval about 1/4″ thick.

Fold in half lengthwise. Place on greased baking sheet. Brush with half of melted butter.

Repeat with second half of dough.

Cover loaves and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.

Bake at 375’F. 25 30 minutes, until golden brown.

Let cool to warm.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar and decorate with candied pineapple or cherries.

Makes 2 loaves, or 16 servings.

Christmas Float Recipe December 24, 2006

Christmas Recipes – Christmas Float

1 can coke or Dr Pepper
3 scoops of ice cream – chocalote or vanilla
4 cherries
2 red and green gum drops
red and green M&M’s
whipped cream topping

Put ice cream in cup. pour soda on it. then add the whipped cream, cherries and candy.

 

Christmas Recipes – Drink Recipes – Creamy Eggnog December 20, 2006

Creamy Eggnog

Soft Custard (below)
1 cup whipping (heavy) cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup rum
1 or 2 drops yellow food color, if desired
Ground nutmeg

Prepare Soft Custard

Just before serving, beat whipping cream, powdered sugar and

vanilla in chilled medium bowl with electric mixer on high speed until stiff.

Gently stir 1 cup of the whipped cream, the rum and food color into custard.

Pour custard mixture into small punch bowl. Drop remaining whipped cream in
mounds onto custard mixture. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve immediately.
Refrigerate any remaining eggnog.

Soft Custard
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1/3 cup sugar
Dash of salt
2 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix eggs, sugar and salt in heavy 2-quart saucepan. Gradually stir in milk.
Cook over medium heat 10 to 15 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture
just coats a metal spoon; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Place saucepan
in cold water until custard is cool. (If custard curdles, beat vigorously
with hand beater until smooth.) Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours but
no longer than 24 hours.

Makes 8 servings, about 2/3 cup each
